This week’s Famitsu brings what will likely cause much rejoicing among Shin Megami Tensei fans: Persona 2: Innocent Sin will be ported to the PSP in the same way that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona was. This was confirmed through a scan of the magazine posted by a user on NeoGAF. Both Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment were originally released on the PSX, though only the latter made it to US shores. However, a fan translation patch was later created so that non-Japanese speakers could still enjoy the game.

Shoji Mejuro, who was also in charge of the PSP remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, will also be heading this project. For anyone nervous about the soundtrack being changed in the same way Persona‘s was, Famitsu released a scan that seems to indicate that the original soundtrack for the game will be left in. A new opening movie will be made for this version, though the original opening movie will be included as well.

No official announcement has been made about any localization plans, though considering how the other Shin Megami Tensei games have been localized, most recently Persona 3 Portable, I can’t see this being overlooked for a second time. Come on, Atlus USA, please don’t do that to us again.
